Domain Registrar
Contains information about the ownership and rights to the domain name. It is used to point hosting to the configured web server (hosting) with details set in the DNS file, like nameservers, A records, etc. We get our domains through a registrar called BareMetal, other examples are GoDaddy, Namepro, etc.
Website Host (cPanel)
Refers to a web server that stores the files and database of a website. For most cases, the domain is registered and hosted from the same provider like Godaddy, but in our case, our registrar is BareMetal and hosting company is Hostway however, we manage and maintain the server. Maintenance work includes (backup, root configuration, disaster recoveries, etc). cPanel is the control board for everything on the server. You can set up email accounts, manage files, install databases, set up domains, etc.
FTP
FTP is a way to access the files and folders on the server, also known as the pages and content of a website. It stands for “file transfer protocol.” So you are literally transferring files.
Database Manager (eg. PhpMyAdmin)
These credentials allow standalone access to various types of databases where all information added to a website via a CMS is stored.
WordPress
A common type of CMS built with several types of code languages: PHP is what makes it function on the backend, and HTML and CSS are what make it look pretty on the front end. For example, other types of CMS that are popular are Joomla and Drupal.
The above credentials provide access in the form of tiers, where access to cPanel allows us to make changes to files, database, WordPress, etc. cPanel > FTP & PhpMyAdmin > Wordpress.
